Sinequan (Generic)

Generic Sinequan (Doxepin) is classified as a tricyclic antidepressant. This antidepressant medication is used to treat anxiety and depression disorders related to alcohol abuse, manic depression, and other psychiatric disorders. Generic Sinequan works by targeting chemicals in the brains in order to restore balanced activity.

Contact your doctor for the precise instructions that apply to you. Do not stop taking this medication without first speaking to your doctor, as suddenly halting treatment may worsen your condition.

Seek immediate medical attention if you experience any of the following side-effects associated with an allergic reaction: hives, shortness of breath, swelling of the lips, tongue, throat or face.

While taking Generic Sinequan, it is important to keep monitoring your behavior to ensure that symptoms do not worsen with use.

• Pay special attention to the following side effects and report abnormal behavior to your doctor:
• sudden mood changes, sudden change in behavior, suicidal thoughts, depression, agitation, aggression, hyperactivity, hallucinations, the combination or a headache with extreme blistering, peeling, and skin rash, trouble breathing vision impairment, chest pains, anxiety, buzzing in the ears, seizure, easy bruising or the appearance of red or purple spots on the skin.

Seek immediate medical attention if you experience any of the following serious side effects:

• accelerated heart rate, easy bruising, the appearance of red or purple spots on the skin, disorientation, hallucinations, seizures, unusual or suicidal thoughts, fainting spells, dizzy feelings, tremors, uncontrollable shaking, changes in urine function, urination more or less than average, extreme third combined with a headache, vomiting, weakness or general nausea, impulsive muscle movement in the eye, tongue, neck or jaw; or spontaneous or unusual bleeding in the nose, mouth, rectum or vagina.

Before taking Generic Sinequan, consult your doctor if you have a history of any of the following medical conditions:
diabetes, sleep apnea, or bipolar disorder.

Most patients are advised to have regular psychiatric testing while taking Generic Sinequan to monitor any sudden changes in mood and behavior.

Consult your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or plan on becoming pregnant before taking this medication.

Do not mix Generic Sinequan with MAO inhibitors such as:
furazolidone, isocarboxazid, rasagiline, selegiline, phenelzine, or tranylcypromine.
Patients must wait at least 14 days after their last treatment of MAO inhibitors before taking Generic Sinequan. Likewise, patients must wait 14 days before taking MAO inhibitors after treatment of Generic Sinequan.

Contact your doctor if you are taking any of the following medications before adding Generic Sinequan to your treatment plan:
any antidepressants, sedatives, narcotic pain medicine, sleeping pills, cold or allergy medicine, muscle relaxers, and medicine for anxiety or seizures.

Before taking Generic Sinequan, notify your doctor if you are taking any of the following medications:
any heart rhythm medications, any phenothiazines,, or cimetidine or tolazamide.

Notify your doctor if you have taken antidepressants containing SSRI, especially if you have taken any 5 weeks before treatment.

Always inform your doctor of any medications you are taking (including vitamins and herbal supplements) before embarking on a new treatment. Additional medications not listen here may interact negatively with your medication.

Do not take more than your recommended dosage. Take missed doses as soon as you remember unless it is nearly time for your next treatment.

Keep medication in a cool, dry place away from heat and moisture. Dispose of any unused medication past the point of expiry. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
